Unknown Broadcast | No Rest for the Dead: A Medical-School Corpse, Murdered Doctor and Dead-Man Trap

Dr. Tarleton’s apparent accident becomes a murder mystery involving a medical-school corpse, a missing letter opener, and a dead man making telephone calls.

George Denning accepts a loan from the doctor in exchange for willing his brain to medical research. His daughter Grace fears the arrangement will make her father a suspect when Tarleton is found with a severed artery. The secretary, Miss Henry, reports that a mysterious Mr. McCobb visited the office, while a call from someone using that name directs Grace toward the woman supposedly responsible.

McCobb should be impossible to interview: his body came from the state penitentiary for a medical-school experiment. A night watchman insists the corpse has escaped, and the same dead voice leads Grace from a funeral home to Miss Henry’s house and back to the darkened office. There, Dr. Tarleton seems to return long enough to identify his killer.

“No Rest for the Dead” is an Inner Sanctum mystery about inheritance, anatomy research, murder, and a corpse used as an elaborate trap. This audio-grounded synopsis replaces the prior unrelated account of a gambler, a wealthy friend, and an unexpected twin.
