App Privacy

Last updated: September 30, 2026.

This notice covers the Weekly Spooky mobile app.

Who operates the app

Weekly Spooky is operated by Henrique Couto. Contact WeeklySpooky@gmail.com for app support or privacy requests.

Your library stays on your device

You can browse and listen without creating an account. Your favorites, playback positions, listening history and Following shortcuts stay in the app’s storage on your phone. We do not upload these records to an app-operated cloud account. Device backups may include local app storage. You can clear your library through the app’s Settings.

Catalog, artwork and audio streaming

The app retrieves published episode information and collections from our catalog hosted on Supabase. Artwork loads from the publishers’ image hosts. When you tap Play or Resume, audio streams from the episode’s original hosting and delivery services, including Spreaker and measurement redirects such as Podtrac. Those providers receive network information such as your IP address, requested episode, device/client information and request details. They may use this information for delivery, podcast measurement, approximate geography and advertising under their own privacy practices. Episodes may contain advertising. The app does not download episodes for offline listening or alter advertising in an episode.

Optional notifications

Notifications are optional. If you enable them, our Supabase service receives a random installation identifier, a notification delivery token, your chosen interest IDs or all-new preference, notification permission, timezone and quiet hours. We use this to send the new-episode alerts you requested. We do not send your favorites or listening history with registration. A secret stored securely on your phone authorizes changes to its registration.

Expo and Apple deliver iPhone notifications. They process delivery tokens and the notification’s episode information under their own practices. A notification may be visible on your Lock Screen according to your phone settings. We store delivery records to avoid repeated alerts and diagnose delivery failures. We do not add advertising or analytics SDKs to the app.

Your notification controls

You can turn notifications off while retaining your alert choices, or use Remove my notification data to remove the token, selected interests and queued delivery records from our service. Removal needs a connection; the app shows pending status and retries when reopened. Alerts already handed to a delivery provider cannot be recalled. Following and library records remain local and are not removed by this action.

How long notification records are kept

The release service keeps dispatch records for up to 30 days after an alert’s one-day delivery window expires. After removal it retains only a revoked installation identifier and credential digest for up to 30 days to reject stale requests. Registrations that have not contacted the service for 90 days are removed during scheduled cleanup, followed by the same 30-day revoked-record period. Service outages may delay scheduled cleanup. Provider operational logs and backups have separate retention; deleting app records does not guarantee immediate deletion from those systems.

Support and privacy emails

If you email us, we receive your address and the information you choose to send, and use them to respond to your request. We delete resolved support and privacy-request emails within 12 months after resolution, unless we need to retain them for an ongoing issue or a legal requirement. Please avoid including sensitive information you do not need us to see.
