Bigfoot at the Coast: A Pacific Northwest Cryptid Encounter During a Bear Attack

A night bike ride at a Pacific Northwest beach campground sends Tom after a missing child—and into a confrontation between a black bear and Bigfoot.

Every summer, Tom camps at the coast with best friend Arturo and Arturo’s family. The trip means a stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, bonfires, bicycles, and a chance for the boys to reinvent themselves away from school. They befriend siblings Melissa and Ricky, whose father is trying to hold his family together after a divorce, while rumors spread about unexplained deaths in the nearby beach community.

Ricky disappears after dark. Tom follows the boy’s jacket and footprints into the woods, where an enormous black bear has driven him up a tree. A rescue attempt leaves the children separated, Arturo injured, and Tom bleeding from the metal pedals on his bike. The creature that finally steps from the trees is strong enough to lift the bear and hurl it into a trunk—but its decision about the children remains unknown.
