The Creature from Richardson’s Lake: Night Swimmers Become Food for a Family Secret

Four teenagers sneak into Richardson’s Lake after sundown, where a seven-foot aquatic creature hunts anyone who breaks the swimming hole’s only rule.

The Warrenville, South Carolina attraction has been run by the Richardson family since the 1950s. Sally Richardson collects cash by day and strictly forbids swimming after sunset. Cecil Dalton, Billy Frost, Angie Renew, and Mandy Hudson ignore the warning, slip through a broken fence, and bring beer and floats to the dark water under a full moon.

Beyond the yellow ropes, a scaly predator with gills, webbed claws, and razor teeth abandons its meal for fresh human prey. It pulls Angie from the diving-platform ladder, stalks the others from below, and attacks faster than they can reach shore. Their screams finally bring Sally running with a shotgun—but the lake owner knows far more about the creature’s appetite than the trespassers expect.
