A Wet ’n’ Wild Halloween: Mutant Mollusks Attack a Texas Water Park

Bryce’s Halloween date at a Texas water park becomes a mutant-mollusk outbreak when contaminated slides turn swimmers into living shells.

Splash Town stays open through October 31, and its newest attraction—the Pumpkin King—sends four riders through black-and-purple tubes into a bat-shaped pool. Bryce would rather avoid the massive waterslide, but Rebecca Engel loves the park, and after eight years of nervous longing he has finally asked her out. Their date begins with stinging skin, foul-smelling water, and complaints the staff cannot explain.

Beneath the park, manager Peter Brack discovers unfamiliar red drums feeding a shimmering chemical into the treatment system. Aboveground, infected swimmers sprout grasping appendages, black talons, and parasitic mouths. Bryce and Rebecca take shelter with Flint Stone, an employee trapped inside a Power Rangers costume, and realize the bodies are only shells for fast-growing mollusks spreading through the water.

With Splash Town sealed inside a violent feeding frenzy, the trio turns the park’s concession salt, utility vehicles, zip lines, and water attractions into an improvised counterattack. David O’Hanlon’s “A Wet ’n’ Wild Halloween” combines Halloween waterpark horror, aquatic parasites, body horror, teenage romance, and creature-feature chaos. The expanded notes identify Bryce, Rebecca, Flint, Splash Town, and the Pumpkin King without revealing whether their saltwater plan can contain the outbreak. Story by David O’Hanlon.
