Monthly Spooky | Black-Eyed Children, Haunted Rings & Cocaine Bear

Black-Eyed Children, haunted rings, and the real story that inspired Cocaine Bear lead this Monthly Spooky crypt conversation.

The episode’s subjects move from a modern paranormal legend to the frightening history attached to objects, then into one of the strangest animal stories to enter popular culture. That variety is the point of Monthly Spooky: one conversation can compare folklore, alleged encounters, bizarre news, and horror entertainment without pretending they carry the same kind of evidence.

Listeners can follow the Black-Eyed Children as an urban-legend phenomenon, consider why jewelry and inherited objects attract haunting stories, and then pivot to the real-world absurdity behind Cocaine Bear. The result is a conversational paranormal roundup with distinct searchable subjects rather than a generic collection of “spooky” topics.

A haunted woods, or maybe it's a lot of drug addicts yelling, a family that sex demons together stays together, and what's the true story of the Cocaine Bear? All this and so much more, tonight. Get comfortable. Turn off the lights. It's Monthly Spooky. Well, it's the last Monday of the month, Michelle. Yeah. Yeah. And that means we're here with Monthly Spooky. Yeah.

Yeah. Oh. Michelle, really is this: this is all you're gonna give me. After all the big build-up to record this show. Even after I've had a horrible week, I thought I was doing really good. Really, I just say the least I can and hope for the best. Actually, that's my life, uh, my life mantra. So maybe that is the way to go.

No, I never say the least I can. That's completely. Yeah, I was confused, but then I thought maybe I'm just crazy. So, oh, oh, good, good, I'm glad to gaslit you without, without any effort at all. Yeah, yeah, usually I'm insane, that's what's clear. Ah, that's silly. I mean, everybody is saying it, but that doesn't mean that it's true that everybody's saying that you're insane, you know, um, I, I mean, I mean, yeah, it's just, I mean it's just what everybody's saying, but it's not necessarily true just because, like, everyone is saying it.

I mean, I get more concerned when people aren't saying it, because I know they're just trying to be nice to me. No, there's nothing worse than that. You don't want niceness. Yeah, well, uh, this, this show, um, you know, every time there's like a big personal thing or whatever, and then we have to record, I always say, like you know, I'm just gonna do the professional thing and not reference it, and just do the work and then I immediately reference it, like the moment.

It's like the moment record or stream is hit. I just lose that ability to not talk about my problems. Yeah, that's okay. I mean, I appreciate the uh, the permission from you, Michelle, thank you, I mean I have to say it's okay now because we're on the air. That's a fair point. Um, no, there's just been a lot going on. Um, for those who have not followed along, my dog, chicano, has cancer.

Um, this is probably news to you, Michelle. It's not like it because you don't hear, I don't talk to you about it like literally every day on the phone. Yeah, I mean, I I don't not really appreciate you dropping this on me. Well, first of all, um, he's in chemotherapy right now. He's over halfway through the treatments, um, and it looks good.

Yeah, I'm really glad, but it's amazing how much good news can take out of you when you've just been through a lot. Yeah, so on monday, so a week earlier, I took chicano in for his fifth chemotherapy appointment and to do a new scan and chest x-rays and and and all of it. Um, he has a systemic type of cancer. So he's not.

We've been cutting off tumors and he kept getting more to the point where they were like, oh, he's got cancer in his system, we gotta get, we gotta do something about it. So, and of course, I opted for the most aggressive and expensive treatment possible. I mean, although I guess they said they could do the chemo with gold needles, but I, you have to special order them and, oh man, that would have been so cool.

It's great too, because it has no effect on effectiveness whatsoever, but it adds needless expense. Yeah, that's what matters. It's like gold flex on food and it's not like you can not, like they even take pictures of it, and then you could put: yeah, you're not even allowed to be in the room. Yeah, yeah, no, doggy chemo, which is how I will refer to it.

Um, doggy chemo only takes about five minutes, so so they just take them from you and then they bring him back and like there he's been chemoed, and you're like thanks, and then he just looks at you like why do you hate me? And you're like you have no idea how much I love you, you dog. Um, but yeah, so it looks like the grand total is is going to be 8 500 for all of chicano's expenses.

So I want to say a humongous thank you to many of our listeners who have contributed to the gofundme that I've been running. We're almost at $3,000. At the time of recording this, we're at $2,911. Wow. Yeah. And it's a huge help. Basically, every penny we raise, I just pay on the medical debt and then don't have to work myself to death for that amount of money, at least.

So literally, every bit helps. When somebody contributes 20 bucks, that's an hour I don't have to stay up late working to pay these unexpected bills. Yeah, you can just stay up late working to do other things. Okay. Now, I don't appreciate that level of honesty about who I am, Michelle. So, number one, ow. That was brutal. Oh, my God. Did everybody see Michelle slit my throat and drink my blood just now?

Jesus Christ. Man. Well, thanks, Chell. I appreciate you. But no, so it is good news. We got good news. All of his scans were the way the oncologist wanted them to be. Good. And that's a really great sign. So he has three more chemo treatments, but they're every other week now. So it'll be nice. He'll have more time to recover. Doggy chemo isn't as bad as people chemo.

He's thrown up once in the entire time. So it's, yeah, it's really not bad. Actually, it was because of the steroids he was drinking. He drank so much water, he filled it, overfilled his stomach, and that's why. So, yeah, it's no, it's gross. So, um, and I was in chicago on business, so I felt like a total piece of crap because he was going through that and I couldn't- I literally couldn't- be there.

Yeah, so well, I had scheduled the trip and then when the oncologist said I'd recommend chemotherapy, of course I was like, well, can we start today? Because, you know, I I feel like that's not the kind of thing you put off. Yeah, yeah, you know, it's like, oh, you need chemotherapy. It's like, okay, so, like summer, that's what. That's what I would say.

Actually, I'd be like, so, like in a couple years or like when, oh gosh, well, so, but that all being said, last night I stayed up late. I don't want to go into details, uh, because I don't know what I want to share. Yeah, you know, it's not my personal tragedy, but someone very, very close to me lost their very close pet.

And I had to, I had to be there. I had to, they made me know, I felt, I felt terrible and, you know, wanted to be there. So I woke up this morning and I was like, man, I don't have a lot of gas left in my tank. I'm going to be honest. Like I'm so tired. Luckily Michelle volunteered to run the rest of the show while I take a nap.

So I will set an alarm for two hours and 10 minutes from now and then I'll come back and turn record off for you, okay, um, should I leave too? No, you're gonna talk for the two hours you're gonna. You're gonna cover for me, like, like we work, a minimum wage job cover for me. I don't want the boss to know I had to leave.

Oh no, I I don't. I don't usually do that. I usually just tell the boss. Oh, man, you're a snitch. Yeah, that makes me sad. Sorry. It's it's not OK. I was going to say it's fine, but that's a lie. Before we move on, I do want to say if anybody else wants to help with Chicano's medical expenses, and I really do mean it.

Five bucks helps. Anything helps. It all accumulates and helps. it accumulates similar to how the massive medical debt accumulated for him yeah um all you have to do is go to Weekly Spooky. Com and click on the link help my dog. At the top of the screen you'll see a cute picture of him and a link to the gofundme. I really really do appreciate it.

But, uh, but, so that's. That's it for the plug for today, although I do need to start like plugging it really hard because it's a lot of money, um and uh. Anyway, I see I could just focus on that forever. But what I want to focus on, Michelle, is how are things going with your new podcast? You've really been pumping out episodes.

I, I don't think so. I mean, it's just just the normal amount. You know you were doing two a week for a while there. Yeah, it's because I was trying to catch up, so now I'm just doing one. So Michelle's podcast- for those who don't know, is called Michelle- explains anime poorly, and it's a podcast about poorly. I mean about anime. No, it's.

It's a podcast about current anime and maybe not so current anime in the future. We don't, you know who knows. Right now you're talking about trigun, yeah, uh, stampede, yeah, trigun, stampede, yeah, which is doing its thing being a show. No, nobody knows what's going on. It's okay, you can save it for your show. You don't have to give it away for free here.

Oh, I don't have to to tell you the whole episode yesterday that I watched. I mean, if you really want to, you can just do the recap here and then cut the audio out and make it your podcast too, yeah, well, so with that all being said, uh, I'm just going to be completely transparent because I like to be transparent with my audience.

It's gonna be a shorter episode of Monthly Spooky. I'm not gonna be. I actually usually look forward to doing these long episodes where we can just, you know bs and talk. I'm so tired I'm, we're gonna do the show and then I'm gonna go lay down with my dogs and, uh, and take a much needed dog nap. So, um, I know, Michelle, you do cat naps, but dog naps are pretty good too.

I don't do naps, I know you don't. It's I envy that. I was, I used to be a no nap person and now I'm a nap person. It's okay. I understand that weakness has. No, you just abandoned me. I mean, that's fair. No, I'll take that charge. Uh, ouch, okay, no, you went, you win that. That's man, that hurt. Okay, I'm all alone now.

I know you are because you, you, literally- and you live with the cat. So literally, you live with a creature that naps constantly while you refuse. Yeah, well, it's kind of like in the daytime she naps and I touch her and then at nighttime I sleep and she touches me. So the circle of life fair. I mean, I can't argue with that, you know, I can't argue with results, yeah so, oh, gigs, your cat's so cute, um, but yeah, so we're gonna, we're gonna hang out, we're gonna do some spooky news and stuff like that, um, stuff like that, as if this isn't.

This is like not the like 10th episode or something that we've done of this. I think it's like the sixth or seventh or something, I don't know. Well, you were supposed to count, oh, sorry, so well, before we, before we go to a break and come back with the spooky news, what do you think of how the crypt is looking? It looks, it looks good.

I- yeah, I've done nothing to it, I've been too busy worrying about all the other things, but I did, I tried, did you? Did you like? Though? I put a little, I had like a little note card and I put some tacky putty on it and put it underneath one of the paintings on the wall and just put: this is new and not the old painting, which is just as good as getting a new painting.

Yeah, put a tag it says that it's new. Yeah, because I was like, huh, I feel like I saw that painting before, but maybe I saw it like somewhere else. Yeah, yeah, it's a gaslighty sign. It's a little gaslighty, but I like it, you know? Um, in fact, if you read the little lower print under it, it says: really, you haven't seen this before.

You're crazy. Everybody thinks you're crazy. Yeah, that'll, that'll get them. Yeah, that'll teach them. Well, I mean, you know, I'll work. I'll work harder next month on on redesigning the crypt to. I really just want you to like it. I always like it, even when you just gaslight me. Actually, I feel like that's actually the most success I've ever had with getting you to like.

Anything is just gaslighting. Real efforts for chumps. Just just tell, tell her her vision of Reality's not real. That is what works. I don't even know if that's true or not. See? Damn, I'm good. Well, we're going to take a quick break, and then we'll be back with the spooky news. Hey, Michelle. Hi. It's time for the spooky news. The Spooky News We have a news story where we're actually following up on one that we read a few months ago Really?

Do you remember the real life Addams family out in England? Jolly old England? Yeah Well, they're back Wow Mirror.co. Uk Real life Addams family hear little girl crying and smell rotten eggs in haunted home. Uh oh, that doesn't sound good. I mean it's extra weird because like they hear a little girl crying and they have a little girl, but I guess that's probably not what it is.

I guess it's not that little girl. It's probably not. But, uh, but yeah the. So last, last- I don't know, it was maybe four or five shows ago- we covered these folks. They live in england. They're called the real life adams family, but they're, um, I think they're the kennedys. Uh, oh man, that's a much scarier family. But they're known for like driving around on a hearse, and I don't want to be hard, I mean they seem like they're cool but they're totally like making money off of this.

This is like their thing. They have a business that's about hauntings. But here's the thing that really shocks me, and I hope it shocks you too, is that John Paul Kennedy, the father in that family, is 33 years old, which means that that this like really old looking guy in these photos is actually younger than me. Oh, and I don't know how I feel about that.

Well, I mean, I just just feel bad for him. You don't have to feel anything else. Being an elder millennial is rough man, I guess. So what were you gonna say? Oh, just, you just try not to think about it too much. And that is the millennial answer to most millennial problems. John Paul Kennedy, 33, and his partner, Kimmy Jeffrey, 38, say they have experienced the mysterious happenings in their spooky home since they moved into their new house in September of 2022 and then murdered a child in it or something, I guess.

Um, oh, oh, new home to them. That makes more sense. It'd be weird if the home was like the home was built in 2022 and now it's haunted. That's efficiency. Yeah, sometimes ghosts gotta move to new places. The couple are putting up cameras to capture the spooky ongoings and say: their daughters- oh, they have two daughters, that's right. Snow, 10 years old, and pebble, six years old- are just as intrigued.

The family, who travel in a hearse called morticia, hope to set up a museum for their artifacts, which are two dolls, mimi and esther, esther, uh, pieces of jewelry and, oh, a Dybbuk box. Oh, that's a jewish thing, yeah, and we've been demonetized. But uh, what do you know about Dybbuk boxes? Um, they're like the box and then they're like sealed and they're supposed to have like a demon or something bad in them.

I'm trying to remember. Dybbuk in Hebrew means something like to cling or to hold on. Yeah, I'm not sure. It's something like that. Oh, it is from the Hebrew verb meaning adhere or cling. Okay. Is where that phrase comes from. Dybbuk. Although I think it's pronounced differently in, I almost said, I'm so tired. I almost said in Jewish. I meant to say in Hebrew.

Because dibbik is hebrew, schmear is jewish. That's a jewish term, schmear not really. Okay, fine, you know what it's. Okay, it's okay. Usually you laugh at all of my bagel related jokes. Now all of a sudden you're just coming down on me. No, I don't appreciate it. No, it was good. Oh, thank you. Thank you, uh, john. A teacher from winsford, cheshire, said, quote: we thought we had a gas leak because it was smelling like rotten egg.

See, and I feel like you would appreciate that, Michelle, because that would be, I would assume, your first recommendation. It was my first thought. Yeah, uh, quote. We called an engineer out and he couldn't find a leak. Suddenly the smell just vanished. Sulfur smells can be associated with demons. That's in his quote. He's like: oh, just so you know, I want to.

I want to be quoted in newspapers creating the facts. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm a very attractive person, by the way. Uh, I am very attractive. That's like my own quote in the article. Kimmy, a therapist said, quote: the other night I woke up at 3 a. M and heard a girl crying. That doesn't sound as weird when they have two daughters, but I'm still gonna listen.

Oh the, I quote. I checked on snow and pebble, but they were fast asleep. They could cry in their sleep. Jeez, I know, I mean, like that's just efficiency. Yeah, sometimes you just can't fit in all the crying, yeah, so you just gotta do all your sleep. Yeah, um, we're going to quote, we're going to buy cameras to try and capture anything.

The couple started their ghost hunting business in august of 2022 after going on a tour for kimmy's birthday. What you're making a face. I don't like this. I. I don't like this timeline. Oh, we started our business in August 2022. Oh, we moved into a new house in September and it's haunted. Come on, guys. Oh, for saying I thought when you said you don't like this timeline, you meant like you wanted to be in the Berenstain Bears universe.

Oh, like this is the worst timeline. It might be also the worst timeline. I think so. Yeah, no, this is a, yeah, this is a pretty. This is a pretty questionable time frame. And here's the next quote, quote: Kimmy was skeptical, was very skeptical about it all when she first met me. John said, quote: I bought her a ticket to a haunted house for her birthday and we picked up a pink spirit ghost on camera, see.

So this is. This is the part that wears me. I bought her a ticket to a haunted house. What's going on? No, I mean, like, when I think buying a ticket to a haunted house, I think a haunted house that is not a real haunted house, like it's for entertainment purposes, hence why they're charging admission. When I think of a real haunted house, well, I mean, I don't really believe in ghosts, but when I think of a real haunted house, I think of, like you know, you're just like doing your thing and all of a sudden, like something scares you while you're making a sandwich with some mayonnaise and some bread, yeah, and you can't afford anything else.

And what? And chives? And oh, that sounds good. Yeah, I would eat bread and mayo and chives, yeah, oh well, there goes the whole audience. They're like: all right, we're done with this guy. The family visit sites together and claim their daughter. Snow can see ghosts and demons, but just in the last couple of months, just just recently, you know, yeah, uh, there's a photo of them and they're all, uh, standing around.

They have like ghost scanners, you know, like those meters, the electric meters, whatever they're called. Like EMF readers or something? Yeah, EMF detectors or whatever they're called. But they're all like standing with them. It's like the father, the mother, and one of the daughters are all holding them. And if you just looked at it quickly, it just looks like they're all looking at their phones.

Do you ever watch an old movie now and someone's holding like a stapler and your brain's like, oh, they're holding their phone. And then you're like, oh, wait, this is 1941. Yeah. So it's the alternate timeline. Oh, man. See, I knew I should have never brought that up. Now that's all you're thinking about. Quote, she saw these really long fingers on a ghost hunt, John said.

What? She keeps picking up stuff in the house. The girls loved being involved with experiments on our different artifacts, Kimmy added. Pebble finds it hilarious. What? Well, pebble, I guess, is the one who can't see ghosts and demons, so she's just like long, yeah, she's just like lol, this is no big deal. Yeah, quote: she put all her barbies, uh, out to see if they would move.

Did you ever do that when you were a kid? Did you ever wonder if your toys, like, came alive while you were asleep? I mean not wonder so much as be afraid. See, okay, no, I was about to say that I would not be afraid. And then I remembered how afraid I was of my My Buddy doll. Yeah, dolls are scary. Well, I had a My Buddy doll because my mother was like, well, he loves Chucky, so I'll get him the doll that Chucky's based on.

And then he'll lock it in his closet every night before he goes to sleep, which is what I would do. Oh, my gosh. I would lock it in my closet. You know, people are going to wonder about my childhood when they listen to the show. They're gonna be like, oh, so you were like locking your closet or I was like, well, yeah, I had to do it quick before la llorona got me.

But you know, um, I made my buddy gonzo laugh his ass off the other day because I was like, hey, this isn't child abuse, this is mexican culture. All right, it's charming and we all love it and we've enjoyed it, and I mean that. So, wow, uh, yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I'm starting to dislike the, the. The quote unquote: real life adams family.

Yeah, they seem like grifters. Yeah, um, especially when you see their hearse- and it's not just a hearse, it's a hearse with like a painting on the side of their about their business. Oh, I mean, I think that's fine. You should go around doing home inspections and have a hearse. I'd love to if I could buy a hearse. And I felt like the thing is, hearses are just so long and I don't like driving big, long cars.

You need like a hearse from like a children's funeral home. I went really dark. I just want to point out I didn't want to. I was trying to think of like the appropriate way to say little person and then my brain was like I don't want to say the wrong thing, the wrong word and be insulting. And I'm a little on the tired side so that I just said children funeral home instead, because that's so much less offensive, you know, that's so much more okay, right, I mean basically, I mean it's, it's.

I think it's not offensive, it's just kind of dark. Yeah, okay, uh, back to the story quote. They'd moved when she woke up and she was adamant that it wasn't her that moved the dolls. So the dolls had moved and she said it wasn't her, which I. So I'm inclined to believe the child. Yeah. So, chel, which toy were you most afraid of coming to life while you were sleeping?

Was this because of toy story? No, no, it was I was older. By toy story. Yeah, me too. Yeah, no, I was afraid of all. I had some american girl dolls or one of them. I'm very afraid of dolls and I never. And why did you have them? I don't know? Because I, because I liked them, but then I would. Then I'd be like, oh my god, but their eyes open and stuff and they're gonna come get me.

I and I didn't like have any history where I watched movies that that happened in. I was just always afraid that was just your own, yeah, yeah. See, I was like watching puppet master on vhs and then be like, oh yeah, they killed everybody. Okay, fair enough, did you? But did you ever watch indian in the cupboard and wish that You could have the cupboard from Indian in the cupboard.

I mean, I think I read Indian in the cupboard. Oh, boy. Here comes Michelle throwing around clout demanding. I read the book. Well, I mean, probably someone read it to me because I don't read very good. I don't talk so good. I can't imagine if I read it myself that I'd remember it very well. So I loved that movie when I was a kid.

It made me, it made me really happy. And then all I wanted was an Indian in the cupboard. So I had a VHS of Indian in the cupboard. I want to see how many times I could say Indian in the cupboard this episode. I had a VHS of the film and no joke. The tape case opened up and you could take the tape out and it had a little fake key.

So it was like the cupboard. cool. Yeah. And it came with a little tiny native American figurine. Cool. You know what? From now on, whenever I start to pause, because I'm like, wait, I should say I should say the appropriate terminology. I'll just swap it to dead child. It had a little dead child figurine. That's going to be my go to from now on.

Oh, gosh, this got dark. OK. The couple caught each other, Bought each other, Haunted gifts for Christmas, With John buying Kimmy a demonic ring. You know, if you, You know what, If you really believe this shit, You do not get people you like Things that are haunted by That have demon attachments to them, Or do you Quote? It turned out to be a sexual demon.

Oh Wait, I didn't read the other part. That preys on women. Timmy said:. Oh. This is a horrible gift. See? See? Like, why would you do that for someone you care about? What do you mean? I bought you a gift you're really gonna like because it's cursed with, you know, dead children. I don't know. No. Like, I'm reading this article and I'd skimmed it before we did it on the show.

And I literally, as I was reading it, I thought like that she was saying it was a positive thing, that it was a sexual demon. But literally the second half the sentence is that praise on women also. They spelled praise like praise, so maybe it's okay. I think it's probably fine. Yeah, I did the hand motion of prayer. Um, because I just realized nobody could see me.

Um, kimmy spent 250 quid on a doll for john called mimi, quote. She's a haunted vessel with two attachments. I've got a Cuisinart KitchenAid. Way more attachments. Yeah. Just saying. It's got the bread making attachment. It's got the pasta making attachment. It's a sexual demon that plays on women. It's very good. It's a very good very good KitchenAid. Chell, if you ever wonder if our friendship is true, I can't believe.

I'm even having a fun time. When we started recording, I was like I wonder how long the show will go before I say I just quit, oh, uh, just for the day. But yeah, oh, you're like, damn I was. The curse was almost lifted and I was free to go. The family are hoping to add their artifacts in the hope of someday opening up a museum.

Yep, well, okay, so hold on, though. So maybe that ring that's haunted by a sex sexual demon that preys on women- I'm guessing he didn't gift that to her to wear it. He gifted it to her as part of their collection of things that will destroy you and your adorable family. Because that's what I just want to say as a man. As a man, Michelle, as a man, Michelle, if I had a family with a wife and two little girls, first thing, I'd want sexual demon ring, yeah.

Second thing, I'd want, um, no, no, no door locks. Third. Third thing, I'd want, uh, child cemetery. I see I, what is? This is gonna be Keith Tomlin's favorite episode. He's one of our authors on Weekly Spooky, and he has such a disturbed sense of humor about kids. Yeah. Quote, we have a Dybbuk box, which is bound in rope and sealed in wax, Kimmy said.

An evil entity is trapped in there. Well, you don't know till you open it. Yeah, it could be anything. Open it. The family are contacted by their community to investigate hauntings and take pebble and snow along with them. Again, exactly what I would do as a man: I would take my little like 11 and 6 year old daughters to where they're like malevolent spirits that I believe in.

Okay, hold on. So here's the problem with that in general, not just that you're exposing them to you know, maybe sexual demons or whatever on women, yes, they prey on women, um, and they're all women, um. But like it's just not professional. Like you bring your fucking six year old to your your job looking for demons in some house. It's probably falling down and it's really dangerous and you should be wearing a hard hat but you're not.

Like, no, no, this is not good parenting. I'm sick of this shit. Michelle's a home inspector, in case you didn't know. So this is what makes her the most angry. Has anybody tried to tell you a house was haunted that you checked out yet? No, I'm sorry, it sucks. Oh, quote: we're known as the haunted family. Kimmy said we get named the adams family or the warrens.

Oh, that's. That is not a compliment to be called the warrens, I'm sorry. I, I love my, I love my spookies, who are really into the paranormal. I appreciate that they get really into it. I know that I'm a bit more of a skeptic and I've been as open as I can be about that. I just flat out don't like the warrens.

I think a lot of people don't. They were paranormal investigators who were just running a racket. They made everybody look bad. Anyway- quote- we've had builders stop and stare out our- uh, stare at our- hearse on the driveway and take pictures of it. It was great to fit the Christmas tree in. That finally said something I appreciate. Yeah, it would be great to fit the Christmas tree in.

Quote, we're hoping to find more evidence from our investigations. And that's where the article ends. So the real life Adams family are probably just grifters. Yeah. I feel bad. they seem really nice like in their photos, except for the part where they're like, they're like, Oh, well, no, no, you know what? No. What's worse, Chell to you? What's worse? Grifters who grifters or people who sincerely believe, but also are grifters.

Um, um, I guess just grifters. You think that's worse? Well, well, I'm confused. What do you mean? Sincerely believe, but also are grifters. Uh, like, yeah, They know that they're pushing things to make money. So maybe they actually believe that there's a Dybbuk in this box, and maybe they actually believe that there's a sexual demon that preys on women in the ring and all this.

But I'm looking at photos of him holding the Dybbuk box next to his two little daughters and his wife, and his daughter holding the ring. You see what I'm saying? Yeah, well, I wouldn't even call them grifters. I would call them if they believe that they're just being totally irresponsible. Yeah. And that's why it's like a hard for me to believe that they believe it.

Yeah. And if they do believe it, yeah. And you know what, since Michelle already swore a bunch on the show, I guess I'll swear. Sorry. I've had this saying for a long time that I like to bring up. When somebody's being really disingenuous, which is I always bring up, I'm like: so you're either lying and you're and you are preying on people by intentionally lying, or or you are not smart enough to understand what you're doing and that is hurting people.

So which one is it, liar or dipshit? You gotta pick one. Yeah, I've done that to to some uh, interesting people in my life, just went. No, you gotta pick one, liar or dipshit. So let's move on from that and, uh, check out this story from newsweek. Oh, but first we need to take a quick break. Goodness, chel, you were supposed to tell me about the break, sorry.

Oh, it's okay, I'm not mad at you. Anyway, I wanted to give you this ring. It's haunted by a sexual demon that preys on women. So, okay, I mean I. Okay, go on, put it on. No, and welcome back. All right, we got some more spooky news going on and, uh, chell loved her ring, by the way, thank you for for putting that on.

It was so cool to see your head spin and spin and spin when you put it on. I don't think that was good and my neck hurts now. Your neck always hurts. You're always complaining. You're always talking. Yeah, you're always talking um. This next story is from newsweek. Com. Uh clip of ghostly figure walking into campfire gives the internet chills. I thought it was just going to stop.

It gives the internet- and I was, and you're like that's where it came from- the series of tubes given by ghosts. Footage of a ghost- it's in quotes- walking into a campfire has received over 2. 7 million views on tiktok, because all news is reporting on tiktoks. Now, pretty much I- I'm not even joking. My google news will be like hey, uh, this happened.

And I'm like, oh, interesting, and I click on. It's like: on tiktok, this woman. And I'm like what does anything not happen on tiktok? I have a tiktok, by the way, and I've been doing spooky content on it. You should check it out. I don't know what my name on there is. I think it's oh, it's adding: it's uh, incredibly handsome on tiktok.

Okay, um, are you on tiktok? No, I, I watch some content on tiktok talk, but I don't actually have an account. How's the weeb community on tiktok? I have no idea. I just watch home inspectors. I didn't think this could get sadder, but boy did it. Okay, you could be the next home inspection tiktok sensation. I don't think so. There's tons of home inspectors on tiktok and and everybody on tiktok seems to get death threats all the time.

So I don't make sense, though I don't really want death threats that much. I was being facetious by It doesn't make sense. Just a couple death threats. Yeah. How many death threats do you get a week to your podcast? Is it like 720? Man, I wish. No, please don't send me death threats. I wish I got feedback. Yeah, exactly. The creepy clip was shared on January 17th by TikToker, excuse me, Erica Justat Perry.

The video opens with her dog, Aliko, Whose head turns as though following an unseen entity through the darkness. Following Aliko's gaze with the camera, Perry films the seemingly empty hill. However, as the camera pans to the campfire, A translucent figure can be seen approaching it. It appears to pass through the fire, Going unnoticed by Perry's companion standing right next to it. The videos captioned, quote: I got chills from watching this.

Or uh, captioned: I got chills watching this. The freaky footage has received almost 200 000 likes and more than 5 000 comments from spooked viewers, most of which are death threats. No, I added that part exactly surveying 1013 people. Why? Why would it be 1013? I think that's just how many people responded. Researchers discovered that America's belief in the supernatural has increased by 5% since 2007.

When did the Travel Channel start just having all supernatural content? Probably around 2010, so right when the trend was really becoming apparent. That's a good point. I'm just surprised. 5% is a lot and, yeah, It's interesting because, like, religiosity is decreasing in America, but the belief in the supernatural is increasing. Well, I mean that, that to me, that makes plenty of sense.

Why is that? Because people still want to believe in something. Oh, they do? Yeah. Oh, this sounds like you're selling a superhero. You're like, people want to believe in something. Yeah. He is the knight. He is vengeance. No, no, please. Sorry. No. Sorry. Oh goodness. They also found that women are more likely to believe in ghosts than men- 41 to 32 percent.

So, um, and we're also more likely to be interested in spells and witchcraft. Yeah, yeah, I mean, I think everybody knows that. Geez chel, way to way to be sexist. Um, literally, as I'm reading this, somebody who's watching this is scrolling through tinder going. I just swipe left on every woman that mentions rocks and crystals and it's like it's fair king, it's fair, um.

One in three respondents claim to have had a paranormal encounter, with 24% believing they've seen or been in the presence of a spirit. However, a 2022 survey by yougov america suggests the figure is much higher. Oh. Of the 1,000 U.S. adults polled, 37% said they'd felt a, quote, presence or unknown energy. 33% reported hearing an unexplained sound or tune, while 29% said they'd heard an unknown voice seemingly coming from nowhere.

None of these people checked for a gas leak, as far as I can tell. No. Well, that's the Reddit thing, right? People are like, do you have a carbon monoxide detector? People say they are hearing and seeing weird things. Yeah. Other commonly reported occurrences included rapid changes in temperature, 28%, appliances turning on and off by themselves, 25%, and doors opening and shutting without explanation, 20%.

20%. I don't know. It's so, it's interesting because, well, first of all, uh, appliances now because we're, you know, they're, they're so much more like computer related and stuff. Things just kind of come on sometimes without definitely without supernatural. My Bluetooth. Oh no, not Bluetooth enabled. I'm not a peasant. My wifi enabled instant pot has never turned itself on. Well, I mean, I think it probably could if it wanted to.

It's just waiting. Oh, God. The face you made when you said it's just waiting scared me really badly. Jeez. Good. Jeez. In Perry's video, she and a friend are standing by a campfire at the top of a snowy hill in the middle of the night. Her golden doodle, Aliko, can be seen a short distance away, appearing on the edge. The dog's head turns as it follows a seemingly invisible force up a hill.

Using her camera to track her dog's eyeline, a ghostly figure can be seen walking up the hill. As it reaches the campfire, it disappears into the smoke. Perry quickly pans to aliko who looks confused and disturbed by the experience. That's how my dog looks every time I point my camera at it. Yeah, what, what? Uh? Quote. Is it just me or did I catch a ghost walking up the hill into the fire?

Perry wrote in the video captions: tiktok, users were freaked out by the footage, with user 13 mad max 66 writing. Quote I probably shouldn't have watched this before going to bed. Yeah, a quote. Whoa, that was so clear. Commented danielle tui. Quote. Watched several times, never seen anything like that before. Said tommy nelson: 8185. Quote your dog saw it before you did.

Wrote 13 max 66. We already talked to you. 13 mad max 66, it's back. Uh, the dog proved it was there to me, agreed? Dakota b quote as, being native american, I always I was always taught not to record or take pictures of a fire for those exact reasons. Fires help spirits on their journey. Said marweezy 817. Sorry, it's just as a native american said.

Said you know 69, boot camp. Uh, 75, I don't know. It's just funny when some of these are screen names and others are just names. Yeah, quote. That made the hair on the back of my next stand up. Both times I watched it. Commented megan fields. However, other users weren't convinced, with rose believing the quote spirit was a light reflection from the fire.

Quote: just the lens. Nothing to see here. No, you're just the lens. Nothing to see here. Agreed, user 5089591276300. Oh, user 5089591276300. You're always throwing stuff like that around. I remember the first time I heard a zinger from user 5089591276300. And I was just flooring. Yeah. In fact, a lot of times, like if I'm hanging out at the cigar lounge with my buddies and somebody jumps in with a sick burn or like a perfectly placed your mama joke, we go, oh, man, you got 5089591276300.

089591276300, man. For those wondering how long can he keep that joke going? This long. Quote, that's just a camera flare, said Jada Jat Alexander 23 Young. Quote, it could be a slight change of wind moving the smoke suggested Jubal Blue 15. While Kayla commented: even if it was a glare or smoke, whatever it was is neat. I agree with that. Whatever it is is definitely neat.

Yeah, I haven't seen it, but yeah, Newsweek has reached out for comment but has not heard back yet. Oh man, and that's like almost a month ago, so I guess she's dead. Yeah, rip. So. So let's see we got a couple more good ones. Here we go. This one will surprise you. Chell from mirror.co. Uk. Paranormal and alien believers are- quote: less likely to get a good night's sleep.

End quote: are you shocked? You seem startled. Yeah, is mind equal blown? Yeah, okay, good, believers in the paranormal are far more likely to have insomnia as they're kept awake by bumps in the night. A sleep study is revealed. Oh wow, this was based on a sleep study. Oh, that's interesting. I mean, that was like a sleep study. So, so they're like putting these electrodes on you and they're like: so do you believe in ghosts?

I would. I would be like you're not a doctor. That would be my first response. I just see Vincent Price Putting the little electrodes on you For the sleep study and be like: So do you believe in spirits? Demons? There'll be food and drink and ghosts. That's right. If you believe in ghosts, demons and even aliens, Chances are you'll have a harder time nodding off Sleep.

Scientists at Goldsmiths University in London surveyed thousands of people on whether they believed in ghosts, the afterlife and extraterrestrials, while also measuring their quality of sleep. The study published in the journal of sleep research claimed an interest or belief in the supernatural could lead to heightened anxiety at night and in turn, keep you awake. So are we just going to annoy, ignore that?

We could swap that and say: uh, the journal of sleep research claimed that, uh, that heightened anxiety could lead to a belief in the supernatural, paranormal, like, are we just going to ignore that? You could turn that around and it'd be the skeptic argument. Yeah, yeah, I mean, I don't know, I think yeah, but, but I was gonna say that, like, heightened anxiety could just lead to poor sleep.

Oh, that's accurate. See, that's what makes the most sense to me because like, you know, sometimes I wake up and I hear, and I think I hear something and I don't think it's a ghost. I think it's someone trying to break into my house. Yeah. So, and that makes me have trouble going to sleep. Well, you live in Philadelphia. Or near there.

Basically Philadelphia. Yeah. So, I mean, you should. Well, remember that time your printer made you think that someone was in your house? Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm just bringing that up. Well, number one, cause it's hilarious. And number two, because, because, well, you, you're one of those people that like keeps your printer in another room on wifi, right? Yeah. I'm usually on the first floor and my printer's on the second floor.

So it makes sense. Cause my printer makes random noises sometimes that startle me, but it's in my office right next to me. So I usually am near it. So it might like literally startle me, but I don't go, what was that? You know? And if I'm in the other room and I hear a sound that could be a printer coming from the office, I'm like, oh yeah, the office makes printer noises because that's where the printer lives.

But if it was upstairs, like it's a more general direction. It's further away. So you hear it less clearly. It's pretty freaky. But that proves, I mean, that Chell has no belief in the paranormal because your first response when that printer made a noise upstairs, you called the police. And I don't blame you. So when it went off, was gigs like in eyesight?

Or did you like, how did you know it wasn't your cat? Well, we were both sitting on the couch. And I guess, my, I guess I was gonna watch something on my computer and I had re, um, I had uh, restarted it, because that's what happened, that's why the printer went off, because there had been a problem so it hadn't printed the last thing.

Oh, and the last thing was die, over and over and over on every page. Okay, good, yeah, it was probably something really dumb actually, but, um, so I didn't know that, because it I, you know it's a computer, I leave it on for like days and days at a time, so I, I didn't even remember that that had happened. Um, so we were sitting on the couch and I just heard sounds and it didn't sound like a printer because it's upstairs and like down the hall it sounded like walking and gigs was, yeah, gigs was- sitting on the coffee table, like right next to me, and she turned two and I was just like, oh, that doesn't sound like anything I've heard before.

This is one of the major reasons I like having dogs, yeah, is that it's just there's not gonna be someone in my house. I don't know about, you know, because the dogs are pretty active, especially when I come home, like I'll come home and open the door and it's like, oh, the dogs are just like calm, nobody's waiting, and you know, behind the shower curtain for me, yeah, I mean, realistically, gigs would probably gigs when she doesn't know someone.

She's a little bit skittish for a while. Sure, she would, she wouldn't, she would act differently if someone was in the house, for sure. But I mean, like dogs would just go to them. Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying my dogs are fierce guard dogs, I'm. They probably go to the stranger, be like, please pet me. You know, I've been bred to be basically just a puppy wolf my entire life.

Yeah, um, um. So let's see where were we? Oh, the study published the. Oh, I already did that one. Uh, psychologists have already defined a link showing that believers are more likely to experience sleep paralysis, which we've covered on the show before. I experienced sleep paralysis, a phenomenon where people wake in the night unable to move and often report seeing figures in the corner of the room.

Okay, but then you could say that people who have sleep paralysis probably believe in the paranormal because they don't know what that is. Maybe this is so chicken or the egg kind of thinking psychology phd researcher betul ralph said- quote: for some, these events are frightening and can cause anxiety and fear, which can, in turn, disrupt sleep. Our research team thought it would be helpful to understand more about the association between sleep and ostensibly paranormal beliefs, as this could potentially help people better understand some of these experiences.

Some 8 853 people completed the survey, which posed questions asking them to rate how strongly they believed in things such as life after death, whether aliens have visited earth and whether humans can talk to the dead. I just want to point out first of all, that that this study is way bigger than the last study, like substantially. But also they called it a sleep study, but it was just.

They just asked people like: how do you sleep? Do you believe in ghosts? Uh, nearly 31.7 percent nearly a third 31.7 percent said they definitely didn't believe in ghosts which is a higher percentage still uh which a higher percentage still 41. 2 percent denied that people can communicate with them. I'm surprised. I actually expected less skeptics than that. Whenever I watch a movie and it's just like they make it like everybody's default position is they don't believe in ghosts.

Some ways like that's not my experience in life. Most people I know believe in ghosts, yeah, yeah, um. Only eight percent meanwhile said they outright believed in spirits and specters. They spelled specters with the r before the e. Oh, I know, it's sprecters. No, I'm just kidding the other e. Uh. Those believing in the paranormal, however, were far more likely to report struggles falling asleep.

The belief in aliens was, quote- significantly associated with the sleep disorder: exploding head syndrome. Yeah, yeah. Oh, no, I was just doing the hand thing. Yeah. I thought you were trying to signal that you had something to say. I have something to say. I do, but that's not what I was doing. A condition causing loud noises in a person's head when both falling asleep and waking up.

Uh-huh. So what do you have to say about exploding head syndrome? Oh, I think we probably talked about this before, but not on the show. I have exploding head syndrome. So you hear? You hear loud noises when you're trying to fall asleep- um, usually, yes, but you, it's usually like I've woken up and then I'm trying to go back to sleep, like it's you know, and then I'll start hearing like knocks and stuff.

Oh, and the only reason I know well, first of all, I learned on reddit what was going on. Thanks reddit, um, but uh, the reason I like I was positive eventually that it wasn't anything in my house- is because the like, the timbre is wrong. Like it doesn't sound like anything in my house. Okay, I get that, um, like, not like like any surface, it doesn't sound like something that it would be knocked on, but like, yeah, I have that and I'm pretty sure I had some.

I had some experiences when I was in a dorm in college and I'm pretty sure we're just exploding head syndrome. First of all, I think it's probably ghosts. And second of all, who calls it like, who named it that I don't know. I think that there's a technical term for it. Watch it be like, no, that's in the new england medical journal.

Like, sorry, it's exploding head syndrome or ehs. If you suffer from ehs, it's just just imagine you're sitting with a doctor and you're like, I have these auditory hallucinations when I try to go to sleep and I'm trying to figure out, and they're like: oh, you have exploding head syndrome. You're like: so my head's going to explode. It's like: no, no, no, it's just.

We're just whimsical here. Yeah, you're like, oh, thanks, so uh, let's see. Ms roth told the psychology research journal psypost, however, that the findings don't necessarily prove a causal link between the two. Quote: we are simply reporting on the associations that we found. She said. Now she sounds like a scientist. There are many reasons why there could be association between sleep variables and paranormal beliefs, and these need to be investigated fully in the future.

Good. What is clear is that there is a great public interest in this topic, and people want to know more. Yeah. Okay. Do you want to know more? I guess. No, because they're just going to... No, I already understand. It's fine. There's a comment. I love this. It's a mirror.co.uk article and there's one comment. Wow. So we have to read it because it's only one.

Okay. Jack and Jill was their screen name wrote. This made me laugh. I live in a haunted house unless it's me that's brought a relation with me, but very helpful. Been held in ladders and things found and things found plus pranks and TV in my room. What? I thought this would be I thought this would be readable by the first sentence. Change TVs different places.

Just don't keep a TV plugged in. As for believing in aliens. Now that's reported. Most people cannot remember been abducted, missing time or tucked so nicely in bed in position you don't use or in shock resting. Same words when you wake for hours. Can you imagine like waking up in bed in a weird position and going like, huh, I guess I was abducted by aliens.

Could you imagine waking up in the middle of the night in a weird position and then hearing- as for believing in aliens, now that's reported- most people cannot remember been abducted, missing time or tucked so nicely in bed in position you don't use or in shock resting same words. I don't know what is going. Now, listen to this last sentence. Now, I think this was written by like an AI or something.

Now, fix outside killing, trying to kill a cat last night or wind hitting house. Yes. But fear if ghosts or aliens more afraid of humans. And that's it. Maybe it was a ghost that wrote that. Oh no. Now my blood has run cold. That's too scary. Too scary. Well, we're going to take a quick break and we'll be right back with a little bit more spooky news.

And we're back with some more spooky news. I don't know why I put that pause in there. that's okay thank you i appreciate the validation i really needed it to be honest so we've got two more for you and then we're gonna we're gonna skedaddle this first one little funny it's uh from huffpost.com mysterious metal sphere washes up on japanese beach sparking investigation police and even a bomb squad were sent to check out the cryptic object dubbed godzilla egg was it really dubbed Godzilla egg.

First of all, they don't say Godzilla there. They say Gojira. And also they don't say egg. They say Tamago, I believe. I mean, at least that's what the egg sushi is called at the restaurant. So I'm guessing that's probably Tamago. Now I'm so hungry. So I'm looking at a picture of the sphere. It is very big. It has a loop on it where I would assume it gets tied to something.

It looks totally man-made in every way. Okay. And that's why this story is kind of funny. So, because wait till you hear what the internet says when they get a hold of this. Mysterious floating spheres are having quite a month. Just weeks after the military shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon off the Carolina coast, a cryptic metal cryptic, what makes it cryptic?

A cryptic metal ball was washed ashore at N shoe beach in the city of Hama Hama Matsu. Hey, I said it right. Hamamatsu. There's a lot of M's, okay? Hamamatsu on Japan's Pacific Coast, a Tokyo correspondent from The Guardian reports. The rusty, orange-tinted sphere dubbed Godzilla Egg, according to a BBC Tokyo correspondent, gained worldwide interest this week after a local resident spotted it and alerted police.

The elusive thingy... This is journalism? The elusive thingy is about five feet in diameter and has two raised handles, indicating that it can be hooked on to something else. The guardian reported so like a buoy or something. It is apps of friggin lootly a buoy. I didn't want to spoil it. I love it. For the record, Michelle cannot see the photo. Yeah, I'm not looking at it.

Just the descriptors have given her exactly what this is. It is so clearly a buoy. Don't worry. The internet figured that out. Good, good. Instantly. The call to authorities prompted police and even a bomb squad to investigate the object out of fear that it may be a stray mine. I guess, yeah, I mean, it doesn't look like an ocean mine because they usually have spikes on them.

I don't know. It helps them make contact with their targets. That makes sense. Experts eventually deemed the object safe after x-rays found it was hollow like a buoy go. The guardian also noted that there was no indication the object was part of any espionage operation from nearby north korea or china. Because that's what they do: they throw a rusted up ball in the ocean and be like this, will find out all of their anime secrets.

Oh wow, the ball has been removed from the beach, according to the BBC. Well, that's too bad, why? Why, I'm just I'm, I'm really surprised somebody like called the cops. I, I don't, obviously, I don't know what it looks like exactly. I mean, I do in my head it looks like a buoy, yeah, so, so like I would just be like, oh, cool, and then I would think if it was in the US, someone would be like: it's mine now, and then it's taken.

Uh, this is journalism, although the dragon ball z like figure is getting a ton of media attention. One local who regularly runs on nshu beach told public broadcaster nhk that it's been sitting there for a while. Oh okay, yeah, do what. Everyone was just like: oh okay, yeah. They were like: oh, a buoy's on the beach, yeah, uh, quote, it's been there for a month.

He said I tried to push it, but it wouldn't budge, do you think? Do you think the reason they were? They were like the people were like we would try to do more, but we just are too busy not having children because it's japan. Yeah, is everything okay over there? I don't know. My neighbor just picked up something that was large and I think it was a metal pole, and then walked away with it.

So I wasn't a metal ball, though no, it was a pole. Dude, would it be amazing if your neighbors put in one of those, one of those things- tether ball? Yeah, that'd be so cool. You know. No more things. Oh, you're no fun. Uh, so, despite all this, police have not yet identified what the object is, which has some on social media questioning why authorities are staying quiet.

The bbc reported based on a video posted of the sphere by nhk on twitter. Social media users believe it's merely a ball buoy. Others have more whimsical ideas. Jeremiah Garcia commented it's a steel mooring buoy. They are especially designed for the mooring of vessels in the most economical way, while protecting shorelines, natural habitats and other boats by giving those sailing or stationed an alternative anchoring point for all types of vessels.

And then he posted two pictures of things that look exactly like the thing on the beach. Gummy H wrote: I found one buried in my backyard some years ago. That one at least has some mystery to it, because it's not where I'd be, uh, where I'd go looking for a buoy, and he posted a picture of a, big of a. Oh no, he posted a picture of the buoy he found in a hole in the ground.

Wow, weird uh. Efren mendez jr said I can't believe officials from a country surrounded by ocean don't recognize a ball buoy. They seemed rather intrigued by the mooring loop. Oh man, this one's great orb tronic posted, obviously, and just a picture of those giant red balls outside of target, oh god. And then somebody replied, and all anthony g replied with just a gif of the end of planet of the apes.

Uh, spoiler alert, if you uh, it's been 50 years. Sorry, not sorry. Uh, it was earth all along. It's a picture of the beach and the statue of liberty. Hamamatsu's civil engineering office said it quote: considers it to be a foreign made buoy. Yeah, good job everybody. Yeah, mark ennall, an oceanographer at the scottish association for marine science, told the bbc that although he knew instantly it was a buoy, he understood why people might confuse it for a world war ii.

Mine, okay, that's. I mean, that's nice of him. Yeah, quote, but those who have those, but those would have spikes sticking out of them, like you just said. Ah, I'm so smart, I was right once. I'm buying a lot of ticket I gotta go buy. Uh in all told the bbc that these buoys often wash up in scotland and that they can float in the sea for decades, which causes their markings to fade.

I would think so also, loch ness monster. It just says that and then it ends: no, I'm just oh, oh, boy, do you like that one? Yeah, good job, approve me please. Yay, oh, thank goodness, I needed it so bad. Okay, so we got one more piece of spooky news inside of this from mirror.co. Uk inside haunted forest, where terrified locals say they hear the cries of children.

It makes me think that the adams family in the uk. Maybe they live next to this haunted forest. Maybe or maybe they bought this haunted forest as a gift for a loved one. Maybe maybe they just stand in the forest and scream- who knows, that sounds nice. Yeah, do you want to go and do a forest scream with me sometime? The only reason I would say no is because I would be afraid it would frustrate the animals just having me scream and scream.

I like it's scream and scream. How long would you scream? Really? I don't know like a long time. It's like an all-day affair, isn't it? I mean, if I'm gonna go to the woods just to scream, I'm gonna scream a lot. You're gonna get your fill. Yeah you. Ufos, black panthers and the ghost of a crying child are just a few of the paranormal sightings reported in the this forest in the heart of the uk.

Black panthers are paranormal. Uh, I guess if they're somewhere they're not supposed to. Yeah, yeah, that would be my guess. Neighbors have long claimed that canic chase is haunted by mythical beings and creatures. One being which is said to haunt the forest is the black-eyed child said to be the ghost of a girl with black sunken eyes. I was always in the impression the black-eyed child was a was a creepypasta, but this is saying that there are references to it that go back at least to 1892, when the local newspaper ran a fictional story on a child with the same description.

Oh, well, I mean, that's scary. You know, you wrote a good story when people start thinking they saw it for real. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm just thinking about black eyed peas, but I didn't understand. The band or the food? The food. Oh, I'm hungry too. Other mythical creatures include pig man, half man and half pig, as well as black panthers, which were claimed to be released into the forest decades ago.

So that's more of like an urban legend kind of thing. Yeah. You know, the black panthers out there. Oh God, I'm going to never do an English accent again. I didn't commit enough. Other sightings of UFOs and werewolves have also been reported. Hmm. Do you believe in werewolves, Michelle? No, not at all. I, I inequivocally do not believe in werewolves. I feel similarly that like, I would buy ghosts way before I would buy werewolves.

Yes, me too. Yeah, I'm jury for me. Jury's kind of out on on supernatural ghost type things, but absolutely do not believe in werewolves. Sorry. I also think it would be neat if ghosts existed and if there was an afterlife. So like I'm open to like, you know, I would like to find that. But werewolves. I just I don't know about that.

Sorry. No, I just don't think it makes physical sense. Like, I don't think bodies can transform like that. And then, but no, no, sorry. No. Fair. Charlotte, 30 years old, who moved to the area in August said she believes the sightings were just made up. She told Birmingham live. Apparently there is some girl in the woods. My brother told me I quite often walk the dog around here and I don't see anything.

There's also pig man. It's like, what is that about? Is it probably, it is probably people going into the woods and doing drugs. I love this woman. Me too. Yeah. This woman is just bringing that hardline millennial opinion to this. Probably just people doing drugs. Quote, the people who made these stories up probably don't live around here. I would like to know where they get it from.

The only thing I ever see is squirrels. Squirrels are kind of bad. Whoa. That's harsh. I know. William Prime 69, nice was open to the idea of mystical beings in the forest. In Staffordshire in the Midlands. He said- quote: I have been there, for I've been here for four years I have never seen anything. But it is very interesting when you look at the history of Canuck Chase.

I'm not religious or anything. Is there an afterlife? I honestly don't know. William said he believed in the idea of a haunted forest after running a pub in Kent with his ex-wife which was also supposedly haunted. He added, quote, our pub in Kent was supposed to have been haunted. Two little children were murdered there, apparently. I didn't just make that up. That was actually what the story said.

Sometimes my staff would hear footsteps. I know one of the girls who worked as a chef had a hand washing towel thrown at her. It was very interesting. You were talking about something that can be alarming. Jan, a dog walker, said she had heard rumors of a quote black panther on the loose, after a resident said they had a photo of a sheep which had been killed in a way only a large animal could do, specifically a black panther.

Yeah, it couldn't be any other color of panther either, but she believes, quote, drug activities in the forest at night are the only suspicious activities. Okay, so like just people who live around, they're like: oh, no, people do drugs in the woods. Yeah, no, that's yeah. She said: quote: I used to walk up the road on my own in the dark. Since coronavirus we have, we we've got a lot of drug activities.

You used to never see a car at all, so it's just like. They're like: so have you heard about the ghosts and everyone's like: listen, we have lots of drug problems. We really need help. People have said that there are ghosts and pig men out there. It's like: no, there's fentanyl. We don't know where it's coming from and we needed to stop.

Many other walkers have claimed to hear screams and laughing children coming from the Heathland. So definitely people taking drugs. Taking drugs, yeah. Got it. One woman told paranormal investigator Lee Brickley she ran towards the sound of screaming and saw a girl standing, who she believed was no more than 10 years old, with her hands covering her eyes. Oh no, what was she doing?

Playing hide and seek or something? In a post on Lee's paranormal website, she said it was as if she was waiting for a birthday cake. I asked if she was okay and if she had been the one screaming. She put her arms down her sides and opened her eyes. That's when I saw they were completely black. No iris, no white, nothing. Spoopy.

Is there like a condition that turns like your eyes all black or something? I don't, I like literally don't know, but now I'm like, huh, I wonder if that's like a thing. Turns your eyes black. Five. Oh, no. You know what? I'm not going to find anything when I look up black eye because it's getting punched. It's okay. I'll look into it someday.

Yeah, there's uh alka, alka, alka, penuria, which is just black spots, but uh, well, good job. You just uh hurt people's feelings if their eyes look weird. Hope you're happy. So before we get out of here, did you find anything interesting on reddit? Um, sure, if you want me to tell you about reddit, then sure I do want to mention real quick: I saw Cocaine Bear.

Oh, you did over the week. Yeah, yeah, I did, it was fun. Um, okay, it's exactly what it said it would be. It's about a Cocaine Bear. Excuse me, but unlike- but unlike the truth. In this movie a bear eats a bunch of cocaine and goes on a killing rampage, killing tons and tons of people, including drug dealers. The true story is very similar, except a buried a bunch of cocaine and died from all the cocaine.

He just had a heart attack. Like She just had a heart attack. That's not the same story at all. Really? Yeah. Oh. In the movie, the Cocaine Bear doesn't die at all either. Like of overdose at all. Like it never happens. Good. Spoiler alert. So, and I also saw Pooh, Blood and Honey, the Winnie the Pooh horror movie. It was exactly what they promised.

It was a no nonsense, not humorous, like violent horror movie with Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. Weird. Yeah, it was super weird and it wasn't the greatest movie I'd ever seen in my life, but it was really entertaining. But I mean, literally, they're like this is a gritty horror movie about winnie the pooh and you're like, okay, and then you watch it.

You're like, well, that's a gritty horror movie about winnie the pooh. Okay, um, interesting. So if, if either of those are in theaters near you and you're able to see them, I do recommend going to see a lot of fun in the theater. So I just wanted to say that real quick, because I did see some horror movies in the theater this month.

So, chel, what's on reddit? Um, okay, so how about this? Okay, there's this, this couple, and they, I guess, live in the uk or something. They- they used a lot of words I didn't know, so I have to fix them to american english. Um, I guess I don't really need this up because I remember it, okay. So, um, there's a couple and it was like a bunch of years ago.

They're in the uk and they live in this area. That's like like a really small town, um, or a village or whatever, and they have a petrol station which I guess is just like a gas station down the road a bit is just a gas station, but that's like the only thing that they have to do. So they like go to the gas station and get like snacks, a lot and stuff, and there's only two ways to get to the gas station.

So they usually just take the same way every time and they're driving there and the guy is driving and they, everything is going normal, and then all of a sudden the, the, I guess woman, I'm not really sure who's in the passenger seat- she, she, like everything starts to look a little bit different. She's like not sure where they are and and, to be fair, like the guy is from there and she is either like visiting him, like she stays over a lot, or they live together, but she's not from the area.

Okay, but they've been doing, they've been together for like a couple years, like this isn't totally new. So they're driving and they get to this like train crossing, that, and she's like what the fuck? There's not a train crossing on the way? And she, she's like trying to like figure out what the thing, what the problem is, and I think she out loud says, like what is even happening?

And her boyfriend is like just driving like very like intently and he's got like a like a sports car. It's really low to the ground so he like very carefully goes over the tracks so he doesn't damage his undercarriage and whatever, and um, and she said it kind of like seemed like he was like a little unsure. You know, like this isn't something he does all the time.

They get past and then things start to look normal again and she recognizes the road again and she's like: what was that? Like did we go a different way? Like was there always a train crossing there? And he doesn't have any idea what she's talking about at all and they get into kind of an argument because like, she's like, but you remember when you went over the train crossing, and he's like what, we went the same way, we always go.

And he like doesn't totally understand even what she means because this is so weird. And so they like go the other way, home because he's like, he's like, you know, trying to prove that they went the normal way, and she's like that's not what I mean. So then after this she like looks up all, like like the train line and is trying to find this crossing.

She's like: is there another way? Did, did like we get sidetracked. There's only two roads, but maybe we did. She can't find evidence that there's a road, the trail, uh, road crossing at all, or that there's a train line over there at all. Never figures it out the end. I want to say congrats to the, the absolute king, who, who gaslit her to the point where she had to go to reddit.

Yeah, I would take that one to the grave. Yeah, I mean, I don't know about you, but I would take that to the grave. I would be like: no, no, no, there was never a crossing. I don't know what you're talking about. Just drive her in the opposite direction and be like: see, I don't see it, but you're like not going. That is creepy, though.

Like there are things we take for granted, like our concept of space, you know like, oh, I drove over a thing, because I don't know how often you do this, but like sometimes I'm startled when I just don't remember traveling. Like, like it'll like weird me out. I'm like, wait, did I make good decisions on that trip? Cause I barely remember it.

You mean like road hypnosis? Yeah. Yeah. Like, especially for like nothing trips, like you're going to Walmart and it'll be like, how was the drive? And it's like, I don't know. I have no idea. And then I start to wonder, I'm like, was I paying attention? And then, and then I look at my car and I'm covered in blood and I'm like, I guess not.

But, but, But what were the people? Did anybody have any like thoughts? Wait. So first I just also wanted to say that like they drove because this was a thing that they did all the time. Go to the gas station to get stuff. So they drove down the next time and everything is fine. Like she never ever saw that that railroad crossing again.

It's weird. It's weird. So the only thing that people thought that like could actually be besides like she switched into an alternate timeline or something. Or is that like maybe? Well, someone was like, did you have a mini stroke? And she's super young and this was like six or seven years ago and she has no history of anything after that, so we don't know.

And then someone else said, like, is it possible you fell asleep? For, yeah, that would be. That would be. My thought is that she may, may, have dozed off. Yeah, I mean, those are the only two things, and I don't know. It's one of those things where it's like I mean, it's possible without knowing the person, you don't really know, like I don't really, when I'm driving in a car, like when I'm in a car with someone, unless I'm exhausted, I don't sleep in the car.

Like it's, it's. I have to be vigilant, you have to know. Yeah, but who knows really? No, I mean, that is a a strange one. And was what were people thinking? They were just thinking she fell asleep. They were thinking that uh, uh, did anybody suggest there's carbon monoxide leak in the car? No, so were there any other interesting ones on uh on reddit?

Um, I can give you one more if you want. Okay, sure, sure, um, so there's a couple and they live in an apartment and, uh, it's like a small, like a apartment, like one or two bedrooms or whatever, but it has like a central hallway that you have to go down to get to any other room. So if anybody is coming in or out of, like you can't get past someone without passing them physically- okay, you have to see them.

So, uh, well, this, this, um, I'm trying to remember exactly how this went. This woman is like going to sleep, like she's up and she is going to sleep with her partner and she goes into the bedroom and he's not in the bedroom. Like I don't remember if she had come home. I can't remember exactly what happened. Do you think you fell asleep?

Yeah, I think I fell asleep. No, so she comes in and she's like, it's dark. And she goes to get into bed and she doesn't see him. And she's like, wait, what? And then she puts the light on, not there. He lifts the covers up. And then he's like just walking through the apartment going like, what the fuck? Like, where are you?

Doesn't find him. And eventually just goes back in the bedroom and he's sound asleep. Man, I love the boyfriends, uh, in these stories because they're all they're. They're doing a great, they're doing a great job of just making people feel insane on reddit, yeah, I. So they came home and we're looking for their husband, right, or their boyfriend or whatever, right, um, I believe.

So let me look because I'm curious, I, I. One of my favorite things about these reddit stories is hearing what the peanut gallery at reddit thinks happened. Uh, that one's hard because, like, my assumption would be, uh, sleep like would be that you like dozed off and dreamt that you did an action, because I do that sometimes. Okay, so, so I have a little bit more context.

It's been a little bit while, a little bit of a while, since I've read this. Yeah, um, so this person came home from the late shift, so they assumed that their boyfriend was home, right asleep. So they like, they came home and they kind of like were just doing some stuff and then they went to sleep. Then they went to go to sleep and didn't see their boyfriend and not only did they like look for them everywhere, they like texted them and were like, like, where are you?

And stuff didn't get any response, and then they just went back into the bed and he's just asleep snoring. And the text really did come through on their phone: oh so yeah, and then, to add more mystery to it, she found women's clothes in the closet that weren't her own. As far as her she knew, she never bought them, but then he explained: you bought them yesterday.

This is getting very abusive. Very quickly, what, what does reddit think? Or what do you think? Um, I don't know with that one, because I mean if, if we believe that there really is no way to walk some past someone in that apartment unless he like went in the window. Oh wait, they're on the third floor too. Oh gosh, okay, um, yeah, someone said: is it possible that he snuck out?

Um, and she said that the door like was super loud and like when you unlock it, so there's really no way that could have happened. Someone else was like maybe astral projection, and I think like another person was like what if you rolled under the bed? Yeah, under the bed would be my thought too. That's what I feel like freaks me out, because I feel like I could experience it.

Yeah, like I really do. I really feel like because I've had dreams where, like I, I get like text messages and I reply to them, and then I wake up and I'm like, oh, I never got a text and I never replied. Or I've also had dreams where I've replied to messages I got and then I wake up and I'm like, oh, I guess I didn't actually respond.

I just dreamt that I responded. Yeah, so I might be insane, that's okay. Well, thank you. Um. Well, I think it's time we wrap up this month's Monthly Spooky. I do appreciate everybody joining us. I also want to mention real quick my new tv series. Found footage of the series is now available on Tubi TV to watch completely for free, with commercials, and I'd really like you guys to check it out.

It's eight episodes, horror anthology and many of the folks behind Weekly Spooky, including myself made the series. So make sure you check that out. Found footage, the series at Tubi, T U B I dot TV. So do you have anything else you need to say? You look like you have something to say. No, actually I don't. Oh, sorry. That works for me too.

No, but, but, but thank you all for listening. We'll be back next month and I will probably have gotten more sleep.
