I Used to Work in a Fire Tower with a Strange Set of Rules Part 1 — The Warehouse Night Shift

A former fire-tower ranger takes a night-security job at an abandoned warehouse, where colored patrol lines and a bizarre rule sheet are the only protection from what is locked inside.

The work should be simple: watch the cameras, follow each painted route on schedule, never open the wrong door, and wait for missing supervisor Mr. Larson. Instead, a glowing container releases an eight-foot black, scaly, winged creature and its chittering companion. The new guard soon learns that ignoring even one instruction can bend the building’s geometry and turn an ordinary hallway into a trap.

Michael Kelso’s strange-rules horror story begins a two-part night shift filled with secret experiments, unexplained messages, and an apparently endless concrete staircase. With no reliable help and no way to know which door leads back, the ranger must apply every lesson from his old tower before the warehouse’s inhabitants find him.
