Calamity Jane vs. Dracula Part 1: A Vampire Invasion Comes to Deadwood
Calamity Jane faces a pale stranger, a coffin dragged into Deadwood, and murdered saloon women rising as vampires beneath the Dakota moon.
Still grieving Wild Bill Hickok, Martha Jane Cannary spends her days drinking beside his grave at Mount Moriah Cemetery and shooting anyone foolish enough to disrespect it. On the road back to town she finds a wounded gambler calling himself Whisky Tom, robbed by a ranch hand who was hauling a mysterious coffin toward The Gem saloon.
The coffin’s servant, Kinch Yantis, has been promised power by a new master from Europe. After dark, a thin figure in a black suit moves through The Gem with impossible speed, leaving Al Swearengen’s establishment soaked in blood. Calamity Jane and Colorado Charlie Utter can shoot the attacker but cannot keep him down. Outside, Pearl and the other murdered women return with grave dirt in their voices, seeking a special bride for the master.
Part one of John Oak Dalton’s “Calamity Jane vs. Dracula” blends supernatural Western adventure, historical frontier figures, vampire horror, and pulpy gunfighter action. Deadwood, Wild Bill’s ghost, Calamity’s scarred Appaloosa, and the arrival of Dracula set the stage for an Old West war between six-shooters and the undead. Story by John Oak Dalton.
