Destiny and Sienna sneak into the wrong Strickfield drive-in on Halloween and find a movie marathon screening their own deaths—and judgment.

Strickfield’s Retro Halloween Weekend fills October with secret horror marathons at the restored drive-in theater. Destiny Mirren sees the celebration as another reason to hate her charitable older sister, Charity, and plans to steal the event’s money with her only friend, Sienna Michaels. Their directions lead them instead to a long-closed drive-in at 1313 Harlow Road.

The black-and-white movies seem ordinary until the final feature, “Halloween Destiny,” shows two girls making the same choices Destiny and Sienna are making in real time. The patrons are corpses, the concession workers are not alive, and Death himself insists they finish the bonus features before he judges their souls. Destiny must confront the roots of her cruelty, her bond with Sienna, and an unexpected job offer carrying a sickle and responsibility for the newly dead.

Rob Fields’s “Retro Halloween Weekend” combines Halloween drive-in nostalgia, secret horror movies, an afterlife theater, supernatural judgment, sibling resentment, and a dark origin story within the Strickfield universe. The expanded notes name Destiny, Sienna, Charity, the Harlow Road drive-in, and Death without revealing the friends’ final assignments. Story by Rob Fields.
