Squirrels — A Vacant House Hides a Flesh-Eating Colony

A morning jogger watches a dead neighbor’s vacant house fill with silent squirrels—each one standing at a window and following him with black, unblinking eyes.

His route down Marigold Street normally leads straight to Gambrell Park, but Mrs. Woodrow’s empty home becomes impossible to ignore. First there is one squirrel, then three, then a row of them staring through every pane. The realtor never returns his calls, the for-sale sign disappears, and a strange old man at the door insists there are no squirrels at all. By the next morning, every animal has vanished and the front door is hanging open.

Inside, the runner finds an overturned kitchen, the aftermath of a violent break-in, and a wet chewing sound that exposes something far worse than an infestation. Douglas Waltz’s suburban creature story turns a familiar backyard animal into a coordinated body-horror nightmare, where an ordinary house may be occupied by a colony that knows exactly how to look human.
