Phantasmagoria: Horror Host Moloch Turns a Samhain Broadcast into a Live Sacrifice

Young Stephen Wittington secretly stays awake for horror host Moloch’s Samhain marathon and discovers the late-night broadcast can reach through the screen.

Every Saturday, Stephen pretends to sleep, listens to his parents through a floor vent, and waits for “Phantasmagoria.” The regional horror show frightens him, yet he cannot resist its mysterious host or the forbidden movies introduced after bedtime. On this night, Moloch promises a special celebration for the season when the veil between worlds is thin.

The program stops behaving like television. Moloch addresses Stephen directly, draws him away from the safety of his bedroom, and offers the enthralled child a place in the show. A stone altar, ritual fire, and an invocation to Samhain reveal what audience participation means when the beloved dead are invited to feed. The final broadcast may leave viewers believing they watched fiction while one family loses a son.
